There is a SCAM going around where unknown individuals are identifying themselves as actual HCSO deputies, indicating that they have a warrant out for their arrest that was issued by Judge Montero for failure to appear on behalf of a subpoena. These individuals are telling locals to turn themselves into the Humboldt County Detention Center or pay a fine over the phone. As a reminder, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office will never call and ask for money over the phone, and in the event a warrant is issued for someone's arrest, those will be served in person.
The newly realigned Sixth Judicial District serves Humboldt County, located in north-central Nevada. The district seat is located in Winnemucca, Nevada and the district serves roughly 16,000 individuals. The Honorable Michael R. Montero serves as District Court Judge and presides over the general jurisdiction court as well as five specialty courts. Judge Montero's chambers are located on the second floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse.
