Recorder's Office

Recording documents fulfills the statutory requirements of perfecting documents in public records.  The purpose of "recording" a document is to preserve it in an "archive" that is accessible when questions of precedence or ownership arise.

Indexes

Access to our indexes and images from January 1, 1996 and hit-or-miss to 1963 are now available online. Digital images displayed online are unofficial copies as noted by the "COPY" watermark.  Official Record copies can also be purchased for $1 per page.  If you would like to obtain official copies of documents, please call our office.

What We Do

The County Recorder is responsible for the recordation, scanning/microfilming and indexing of real estate transactions, mining claim locations and assessment work, contracts, leases, judgments, marriage certificates, UCC / fixture filing statements, liens, maps and other miscellaneous documents.  All records are then indexed by the names of the principal parties (Grantor / Grantee - Direct / Reverse) from information on the document and preserved in a variety of formats to ensure future accessibility in a searchable archive.

Many documents are required by law to be recorded others are recorded only to make them a matter of public record.

1996 - Present - Recorded documents from 1996 to the present are fully digitized and searchable online by keying in the party name or document number.

1862 - 1996 - Records have been preserved and are accessible in-office by the means of historical records, microfilm and/or microfiche.  Ongoing efforts are being made to index historic records back through 1963.   In many instances, if a book & page or document number are provided, these documents can be provided by e-mail.
